Death Valley Apr 2026

Death Valley is a designated Gold Tier International Dark Sky Park , offering some of the best stargazing in the country due to its extreme darkness and lack of light pollution.

The valley is the ancestral home of the tribe, who have inhabited the region for centuries. Its modern name originated during the 1849 Gold Rush when a group of pioneers became lost in the basin; despite the name, only one member of their party actually perished. Later, the area became a hub for mining borax , famously transported by the "Twenty Mule Teams". Planning a Visit Death Valley

Visitors should always carry ample water (at least 4 liters per person daily), avoid reliance on cell service (which is nearly non-existent), and stay on paved roads unless they are prepared for backcountry conditions.
