"I’m Elena," she said, offering a hand. "I think I owe you for half a show."

The neon glow of the Las Vegas Strip was always a bit too bright for Arthur, but tonight, it felt like a spotlight on his loneliness. He was nursing a lukewarm drink at the New York-New York hotel bar when he saw it: a discarded promotional flyer for , the "sensual side of Cirque du Soleil." In bold, red letters, it shouted: BUY ONE GET ONE FREE .

"Actually," Arthur smiled, standing up and finally feeling the rhythm of the city. "It was a BOGO deal. You were technically free."

He decided to lean into the joke. He bought the tickets and sat in the velvet-drenched theater with an empty seat to his left. The show began—a whirlwind of acrobatics, leather, and lace that pushed the boundaries of comfort and gravity. Halfway through a breathtaking aerial silk routine, a woman slipped into the empty seat beside him.

Arthur looked at her—she was wearing a dress the color of a desert sunset and looked just as out of place in the chaos as he did. "It was waiting for someone," he said, sliding his second ticket toward her.

They didn't talk much during the performance, but they gasped at the same stunts and laughed at the same bawdy jokes from the host. When the final bow was taken and the lights came up, she turned to him.
