Kevin is being held by Crowley , who uses demons glamoured as Sam and Dean to trick Kevin into translating his half of the demon tablet. Kevin eventually realizes the deception and is rescued by Metatron, who brings him back to the hotel.
Sam’s health continues to deteriorate due to the trials, but he begins "resonating" with the Word of God. This leads the brothers to a hotel in Colorado where they find Metatron (played by Curtis Armstrong), the reclusive scribe of God who has been hiding from the archangels for millennia by immersing himself in human stories.
