The wind howled against the hull of the small sailing boat, a fragile splinter of wood tossed upon the churning turquoise of the Great Sea. Link, the hero of Hyrule, gripped the mast as a bolt of lightning split the sky. The last thing he saw before the mast snapped was a colossal, egg-shaped mountain looming through the mist.

Link found himself drifting on a piece of wreckage in the middle of a calm, empty ocean. Koholint was gone. Marin was gone. But as he looked up into the bright blue sky, a lone seagull soared overhead, singing a melody that sounded suspiciously like a ballad.

"Easy now," a voice said. Link opened his eyes to see a young woman with a red ribbon in her hair and a look of gentle concern. "I’m Marin. You’re on Koholint Island."
