The season finale brings all parties together at Sanctum. After learning that shifting can cause permanent mental damage to those shifted into—a condition known as being "trapped" in one's own mind—the group attempts to flee.
The series begins in Northern England, where 16-year-old June is kept under strict watch by her father, John. She flees with her boyfriend, Harry, but their journey is interrupted when a mysterious man named Steinar attempts to kidnap her. During the struggle, June undergoes her first "shift," taking on Steinar’s physical form—including his voice and memories—while leaving him in a catatonic state. Terrified, the pair heads to London, where they are eventually befriended by a drug dealer named Shane, but June's uncontrollable shifts continue to disrupt their lives.
During their escape, Harry and June crash their car.
