Suddenly, the lights in the infirmary flickered and died. A thick, suffocating mist began to seep from under the door. Sasami stood up, her heart hammering. The darkness from the battle hadn’t stayed behind in the other realm; it had followed them back.

Sasami sat by her bedside, her hand hovering just above Misao’s. She could still see the image of the Great Spirit of the World of Night—a towering shadow that hadn't just wanted to destroy them, but to absorb them into a silence where nothing, not even magic, could exist. Sasami slumped back into her chair, exhausted. She knew this was only a reprieve—the "The Dark" had shown them its face, and it was only a matter of time before the final confrontation. Suddenly, the lights in the infirmary flickered and died

"Sasami... run..." Misao murmured in her sleep, her brow furrowed in pain. The darkness from the battle hadn’t stayed behind

The ink-like shadows began to dissolve, turning into gray ash before vanishing entirely. The hospital lights hummed back to life. Misao’s breathing leveled out, and for the first time since the mission began, the oppressive weight lifted.

The dim corridors of the Magical Girls Club headquarters felt colder than usual. Inside the infirmary, Misao lay still, her breathing shallow as the lingering traces of the pulsed beneath her skin like ink in water.

"I won't let you take her back!" Sasami cried. "Magic of the Stars, lend me your light!"
