While working as a mail carrier, Lois finds a letter Peter wrote to his former flame, Gretchen , a week before their wedding. The letter confesses Peter’s cold feet and doubts about their marriage. Distraught, Lois tracks down Gretchen, who reveals she still has feelings for Peter. After a series of confrontations—including Gretchen threatening Lois with a gun—Lois realizes Peter's letter was born of pre-wedding nerves and that they are truly committed to each other.
