Born Ronald Allan Kelley Poe in 1939, FPJ was destined for the industry as the son of actor-director Fernando Poe Sr.. Following his father's death, he began his career at a young age, working as a messenger and stuntman before making his starring debut in (1955) at the age of 14. His early stardom was cemented with the 1956 film Lo' Waist Gang , which captured the youth culture of the era.
