Check the air pressure in your spare tire every few months! Jack: To lift the vehicle. Lug Wrench: To loosen and tighten the nuts. Owner’s Manual: For specific jacking points.
Never change a tire on a hill or on soft dirt.
Whether you’re in a parking lot or on the shoulder of a highway, knowing how to swap a tire is a "must-have" adulting skill. Here is your step-by-step instruction manual to getting back on the road.
Before you lift the car, use the lug wrench to loosen the nuts. Turn them counter-clockwise. Don’t take them all the way off yet —just break the tension. If they’re stuck, use your body weight to push down on the wrench.
Line up the holes of your spare tire with the bolts and push it onto the wheelbase. Replace the lug nuts and tighten them by hand until they’re snug.
A flashlight, gloves, and a piece of wood (to stabilize the jack). 2. Safety First
Now, unscrew the lug nuts completely. Pull the flat tire toward you and lay it flat on the ground (don’t let it roll away!).
