The neon sign outside the "Limbus" club flickered, casting a sickly green glow over the blood-slicked pavement. Inside, the air was thick with the smell of iron and cheap cigarettes. Vane thought he was alone
The floor dropped away into a sea of static, and Kaelen began to fall.
Kaelen stepped into the hallway. A spray of bullets erupted from an automated turret hidden in the ceiling. Kaelen didn't flinch. The rounds struck his chest and flattened like lead pancakes, falling harmlessly to the floor. He felt the strange, cold hum of the exploit draining his battery, but he was untouchable.
As Kaelen reached down to grab the high-tier loot, his screen suddenly began to glitch. The red silhouettes turned white, then black. His invincibility flicker-faded. A new message scrolled across his HUD in a font that looked like dripping ink:
