To this day, for many in Poland, the holiday season hasn't truly started until they hear the opening acoustic guitar chords and Seweryn Krajewski’s soft voice singing: "Jest taki dzień, bardzo ciepły, choć grudniowy..." (There is such a day, very warm, though it’s December...).

In the early 1970s, the band’s leader, , wanted to create a song that captured the specific, bittersweet atmosphere of Christmas Eve ( Wigilia ) in Poland. While many carols are religious, Krajewski and lyricist Krzysztof Dzikowski aimed for something universal—focusing on peace, forgiveness, and the one day a year when "disputes end." 2. A Collaborative Masterpiece The song was released in 1970 on the album Na fujarce .

The song is often credited with defining the "mood" of the Polish winter. It’s a staple at school plays, office parties, and family dinners. Interestingly, it managed to survive the censorship and political shifts of the Communist era because its message of human kindness was seen as universal and non-threatening.

Krajewski composed a melody that felt both nostalgic and hopeful, using a gentle acoustic arrangement that stood out from the rock-and-roll energy of the band's earlier work.

The song by Czerwone Gitary is more than just a hit; it is the unofficial anthem of the Polish Christmas season. Here is the story of how this "perfect" holiday song came to be. 1. The "Polish White Christmas"

Dzikowski wrote about the "one day" where "grey faces brighten" and "even the silent speak." It captured the secular magic of the holiday—the shared silence and the hope for a better tomorrow. 3. Why It Became a Legend

Unlike many pop songs, "Jest taki dzień" didn't fade away. It became a "stairway to heaven" for Polish radio stations. For decades, it has been the most played song on the radio throughout December. It bridged the gap between generations; grandmothers, parents, and children all knew the words by heart. 4. The Cultural Impact
