(also referred to as Atabarı Yöresi ) is a traditional Turkish folk dance originating from the Artvin province in northeastern Turkey. It is a rhythmic "bar" type dance that serves as a powerful symbol of the region's cultural identity and history. Origin and the Story Behind the Name

Originally known as (the dance of Artvin) or Çoruh Barı , the dance was renamed in 1936 to honor Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey.

Atabarı is a collective dance performed in a line or semi-circle, typically led by a "bar başı" (bar leader).
